First, addiction seldom exists in isolation. There is usually unprocessed trauma, untreated mental health conditions, family pain, or some combination of all three behind the substance use, and to achieve long-term recovery, we have to address all of it, not just the addiction.
About Forward Motion Health
Forward Motion Health is a comprehensive, licensed addiction and mental health treatment center based in sunny South Florida that was built for men facing substance abuse issues, co-occurring mental health conditions, and the long road to recovery that follows.
We offer a continuum of care that includes medical detox placement, residential treatment, and structured aftercare planning — provided by a clinical team that knows recovery is not an event; it is a process.
Our clinical team is made up of licensed physicians, therapists, addiction specialists, and other recovery-informed providers, most of whom have themselves experienced their own recovery journey firsthand. In addition to adhering to industry standards — accredited and licensed to practice, and consistent with evidence-based best practices — we know that a facility’s merit is not limited to its compliance, but rather, the degree to which the people within the facility really care.
Our Story
Forward Motion Health was created with the purpose of exposing the gaps ultimately found with many treatment programs today, with a commitment to fill those gaps so all individuals can receive comprehensive and individualized care.
Started by an ownership group with decades of hands-on experience operating behavioral health programs, we understand what actually drives outcomes. Too many treatment facilities promise transformation and don’t deliver or view their clients as cases to be managed, as opposed to genuine human beings in need of support. That is why we started Forward Motion Health. Because the people who come to us looking for help deserve better than that.
Our name highlights our beliefs regarding the recovery process: Recovery is not a finish line; it is a direction you commit to. And although forward motion may not always be fast or in a straight line, it’s always possible.
Every honest conversation, clinical breakthrough, or deliberate choice adds up. Over time, those choices build a life that looks fundamentally different from where you started, and we are here to walk alongside you while that life takes shape.
Our Mission
We are committed to helping people create a life that is worth living, rather than a life where the worst of their symptoms are managed.
To do that, we treat substance use and mental health together, because the two almost always travel together. We provide individualized treatment plans that evolve as the patient evolves, rather than rigid programs that demand patients fit the curriculum. And we remain available to our patients long after their formal treatment episode ends, because aftercare and community support are where the true foundation of long-term recovery is built.
We measure our success not by how many people we admit, but by how many people leave our facility better prepared to live their lives fully — with family, with careers, and within themselves.
Our Facilities
The environment in which you do the work shapes the work itself. Our Palm City treatment center was designed with that principle in mind. Located on the beautiful St. Lucie River, the space is calm and genuinely human, yet luxurious enough to offer all the amenities you need to rebuild. There are quiet rooms for individual therapy, comfortable common spaces for group sessions, areas to decompress between sessions, and state-of-the-art fitness facilities, martial arts spaces, and cold plunge and sauna facilities so you can rebuild the strength lost to addiction. These aren’t perks bolted onto treatment; physical health and wellness are among the pillars our program is built on, alongside evidence-based clinical care and a renewed sense of purpose.
We want the personal connection between patient and provider to be present throughout the treatment process. Our admissions staff takes the time to speak to each individual from the very first contact. Every provider at our treatment center is actively engaged in knowing their patient. Continuity of care — the same provider working with a patient from first contact through treatment — is one of the strongest predictors of recovery success.
Our amenities are real, but they exist in service of something larger: a supportive, safe environment where people can do the sometimes difficult work of recovery and feel supported doing it.
Our Approach
01
Second, personalization is not just a marketing term to us; it is a clinical requirement. Two patients with the same diagnosis can require completely different treatment. We create individualized plans for every patient that take into consideration their substance use history, any co-occurring conditions, family dynamics, work and living environment, and their own vision of recovery. These plans evolve as the patient does.
02
Third, evidence-based and human-centered approaches are completely compatible. Our clinical work is grounded in the therapies that consistently produce results — CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, EMDR, trauma-informed care, and medication management — but it is delivered by clinicians who take the time to know your name, your story, and what you’re working toward.
03
We know that families matter. Addiction affects an entire network of people, and recovery does too. Whenever it’s appropriate and welcomed, we include family members in the treatment process through family therapy, education, and ongoing communication. Because the people who love someone in recovery deserve support as well.
04
Finally, real recovery rebuilds the whole man: mind, body, and spirit. Clinical work heals the mind, physical training rebuilds the body and instills discipline, and reconnecting with meaning gives something to move toward, not just away from.
